Frederick County, VA -- Mapped!

SpotCrime is now mapping Frederick County, VA.  This county is located in Northern Virginia on the border of West Virginia with a population of 75k.  It was once the home of George Washington!  During the Civil War, there were many battles that were fought, hanging hands between the Union and Confederate armies.
SpotCrime maps data from the Sheriff Department's who is in charge of the jail as well as patrolling the county.  In fact, the Sheriff's Department has been in charge of the jail from the beginning.  The first jail was built in 1745 and in included a 12 foot square log building with a whipping post!

The current jail is much bigger (without the whipping post) and in 1990, Winchester, Fredrick County and Clarke County built a jail to house inmates for the 3 jurisdictions.  Check out the SpotCrime map to see the arrests that have recently occurred in the county.  Most of these arrests are the affect of warrants served by the Sheriff's Department.
