Bravery Lands VA Trooper as America's Police Officer of the Year
Many police officers risk their lives daily to keep neighborhoods safe and serve the public. This week in Orlando, FL, 20 of those officers will be recognized at the annual International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference (IACP). Matt Cochran will be named the 2010 Officer of the year by PARADE and the IACP . Cochran, who entered a burning building 3 times to find and rescue a terrified 72 year old woman at 4:30 AM this past January, has been a Virginia State Trooper for the past 6 years. IACP President, Chief Carroll states that "Trooper Cochran's actions demonstrate the commitment by police officers everywhere, to protect and serve the public, regardless of the challenge".
