Mason City, IA--Keep an Eye on Crime

Mason City, with a population of approximately 29k was ranked 10th in the Rating Guide to Life in America's Small Cities due to the 'superior health care options, retail outlets, education, amusement places, and proximity to surrounding urban areas'. The city is located just north of Des Monies, IA and south of the Twin Cities-- Minneapolis and St Paul, MN.
Just this past year in 2009, the MCPD celebrated its 100th anniversary as a police department with an authorized strength of 49 officers.
