Hays County is situated between two major cities in Texas -- Austin and San Antonio.  The county actually holds part of Austin, however most of Austin is found in Travis County.  Hays' county seat is San Marcos and is home to cities like Kyle and Buda.  The county was founded in 1848 with fewer than 500 residents.  It is now one of the fastest growing counties in Texas, with a current population of about 157k!
