Shootings in Charlotte, NC

We've noticed a rash of shootings in Charlotte, NC recently. Check out the SpotCrime Charlotte Map for a more in depth look. Shootings are categorized as Aggravated Assaults by most other crime mapping companies. We break them out because a bullet can travel farther and cause a lot more damage than a fist or other weapon. And shootings sometimes end up targeting innocent people. We've also created a shooting timeline for Charlotte since summer started in June. There were 437 shooting incidents mapped on SpotCrime over the 2 month time period. Check out the video below.

Gaston County Crime is Mapped!

SpotCrime has created a crime map for Gaston County, NC! Gaston County is located west of the city of Charlotte and it's county seat is Gastonia. The approx population of Gaston County is 190k with Gastonia being the second largest city in the Charlotte Area (Charlotte is the first largest) The SpotCrime map populates information provided by the Gastonia and Gaston County Police departments. The department enjoys that they can share this kind of information so quickly with their residents. Captain Melton from the PD enjoys that "[the departments] can get information out that we think needs to get out there to the public we serve.” He also likes that the crime map and alerts are provided to the department and residents free of charge. Rowan County, NC SpotCrime Map--Lock your Cars!

Rowan County, NC is now mapped on SpotCrime! It's county seat is Salisbury and has a population of approximately 130, 300. Rowan County is located between Raleigh and Charlotte. It's also home to the North Carolina Transportation Museum, Catawba and Livingston Colleges. Take a look at the SpotCrime Rowan County Map and you'll find the crime happening in your area. You will also notice that a number of thefts have recently occurred south of the Rowan County Airport and Salisbury along Old Concord and Webb Road. The majority of the thefts are from motor vehicles. Make sure to lock your car doors! This is the best way to prevent theft from a vehicle. You should also remove any valuable items from the car or hide them out of view from criminals. SpotCrime would like to introduce the Cleveland County, NC crime map. The county is located just northeast of Spartanburg, SC and west of Charlotte, NC with a population of approximately 96k. Theft seems to be the the crime of choice in this county, noting over a dozen in the past week. However, the police department is trying its best to keep the area safe, making almost twice as many arrests in the same time period. SpotCrime is now mapping Buncombe County, NC. The county, with a population of approximately 229k, covers 660 feet of the central southern part of North Carolina. Search the SpotCrime Buncombe County map to find a number of burglaries throughout the county, targeting mainly the northwest and southeast sides. You can also find from the SpotCrime map that most of the burglaries are residential. Residents everywhere should take the proper precautions to prevent becoming a victim. You can now find a map for Lincoln County, NC on the SpotCrime website. The county was once a lot bigger. Back in the 17-1800's it helped to form Burke, Cleveland, Catawba and Gaston counties. Looking closely at the map, and using SpotCrime's search, you can find that there have been over 2 dozen cases of vandalism reported in the past month!
