After almost two years of work, SpotCrime is now mapping Franklin County!

Our quest to start mapping Franklin County started with our interest in mapping all crime in Columbus, OH. Franklin County itself is the second largest county in Ohio (followed by Cuyahoga County which holds Cleveland), Columbus is Franklin County's seat and the largest city in Ohio. Franklin County has a population of over 1 million, so naturally we'd be interested in mapping what happens in the city and county - crime knows on boundaries. You can also find the largest university in the US in Franklin County - The Ohio State University. We're mapping crime available from Ohio State on UCrime.com.

Our media partners, ABC6 and FOX28 out of Columbus, host SpotCrime maps on their Fighting Back section of their site. Check out the Franklin County map and other Columbus areas we're mapping under the Fighting Back Area Crime Maps on ABC6 here. Make sure to check out ABC6 of FOX28 for your local Franklin County crime news.

Check out the SpotCrime Franklin County map and it looks similar to county maps which hold larger cities - almost like a donut shape of crime appears on the map. This is because the Sheriff's office is in charge of patrolling unincorporated areas of the county. The city of Columbus (for the most part) is left up the the Columbus Police Department. Check out your Columbus SpotCrime map here.
