Eight shootings involving eleven children across the US since Memorial Day

Since the end of Memorial Day, we’ve mapped 8 different shooting incidents across the US where a total of 11 children have been shot. June 6 alone saw 4 shootings. Some of the incidents are gang related, and most of the children were not the intended targets. However, one shooting is domestic violence related and the shooter intentionally shot 3 children, killing one. Two of the shootings involved children playing with loaded guns.

In St. Petersburg, FL on Monday May 29 (Memorial Day) at 10:30am kids were playing with a gun in a house when one of the kids was shot.

In Durham, NC on Sunday June 4 a car full of adults and a 7 year old was shot at. The mother of the child was involved in a shooting once before in 2016. An arrest was made in the shooting.

In the Bronx, NY on Monday June 5 a 5 year old was caught in the crossfire of a shooting around 5:15pm when he was hit in the head by a stray bullet at his birthday party.

In Wilmington, DE on Tuesday June 6 a 6 year old was also caught in the crossfire when he was shot 3 times, once in the head. A playground, Sarah Pyle Academy, and Bancroft Elementary School are all located near where the shooting took place.

In Sandy, UT on June 6 at 3:45pm, 3 children and mother were shot at. One child died. The shooting is domestic violence related.

In Eunice, LA on June 6 at 7:45pm a dozen shots rang out with a vehicle as the intended target. One of the bullets missed the vehicle and hit the innocent child instead.

In Nashville, TN on June 6 a 7 year old was shot by his 2 year old cousin with a gun the children were playing with in the kitchen of their apartment.
