New Rochelle, NY SpotCrime Map |
The New Rochelle PD recently pulled their crime map from public view and replaced it with an email system. New Rochelle's Mayor Bramson's reasoning was that the city has "the lowest crime rate in more than 40 years and we're one of the safest cities in America of our size". He also claims that the new email system will be "far more useful than a graphic presentation".
Not sure if that is a valid claim, especially for those with different learning styles. When it comes to crime data, I prefer to view points on a map.
The data on the SpotCrime map has been collected from various news agencies in the area. The crime highlighted in the screen shot involves a 2 year old that was allegedly beaten by a man. The child later succumbed to his injuries. Other crimes in the city include an attempted bank robbery, thefts and even a mugging.
